This week we caught up with AquaPhysical creator, Leila, to find out what she loves most about AquaPhysical and working in the international health and fitness industry!
What makes you happiest?
When a project comes together that we have been working really hard on! And most importantly my family and boyfriend
What is your earliest memory?
Splashing around in a fountain in Charleston, America – my parents travelled a lot when I was younger – I think I went to 6 different schools before the age of 7!
What is the worst job you’ve ever done?
I had a lot of holiday jobs growing up. Working as a waitress in a very busy pub on the SW coast path with really long hours and too few staff. I ended up with blisters on the bottom of my feet! Or it would be a cleaner at the local holiday park. It was good money though!
What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Romcoms, Britney Spears and anything sweet
What can’t you live without?
Gala apples
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Animal whisperer! I’d love to be able to know what my dog is really thinking
How do you like to keep fit and healthy?
I love most sports but particularly cycling, running and the strategy and tactics of playing tennis. Spinning as well because I come out feeling like I couldn’t have put more into it. Running in the countryside because it makes me appreciate how beautiful England is – there is nothing more energising. Definitely sailing and being on the water. I try to exercise 5-6 times a week.
What is your best health and fitness tip?
Stick to a healthy diet in the week. Make everything from raw, fresh ingredients and eat nothing processed. Then at the weekend binge on Chocolate! It’s my downfall..
Who inspires you in the fitness industry?
I love watching Athletics – my childhood hero was Denise Lewis. I was in awe of how Denise could be so good at so many different disciplines!
What celebrity would you love to do a FloatFit class with?
Mmm thats difficult…. I’d like to do one with Britney Spears, Usain Bolt and, of course, Denise Lewis!
What is your favourite exercise on the AquaBase?
Rockers! Followed by AquaClimbers. Rockers are great and I feel like a child making waves! The AquaClimbers are really challenging and I can feel every muscle in my body working.
What is the best thing about working at AquaPhysical?
Our team and the people we’ve met along the way! I’ve gone from working in a spare room to working with a great team. It’s amazing to have people who feel so passionately about the brand. We’ve met and trained some incredible instructors, had advice and help from people who didn’t want anything in return, there are lots of downsides but I wouldn’t do anything else!
Where is your favourite place that you’ve visited with AquaPhysical?
I’ve been to so many new places! My favourite so far would be Vienna – it’s beautiful. The architecture is stunning. The only thing with travelling with work is I never have the time to properly explore so that there are lots of places I’d like to go back to.
Where do you most want to travel but have never been?
I’d love to go to New Zealand! I’ve heard so many great things about it and all the photos I’ve seen look amazing.
What is your greatest achievement?
Would have to be AquaPhysical – it’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done but equally the most rewarding. In 10 years time I would love AquaPhysical to be recognised all around the world.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
My parents advice “If you don’t have passion, then you have nothing. If you don’t believe in what you are doing, why would anyone else?” It is key that the people on our team have passion, drive and belief!
